Yes, this isn't our home, but I have always felt that since we have been given the freedom to vote for our leaders, we should vote. This isn't a biblical mandate but God definitely commands us to pray for our leaders so that we can lead a quiet and peaceable life.
He commands us to love others. We have to then chose to go about loving others. He expects us to act upon His commands. Since He tells us to pray for our leaders, it seems He would want us to do our part in getting good leaders.
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked bears rule, the people mourn.
Proverbs 29:2
Well, hello! We have the freedom and the opportunity to put in good leaders. They might not believe the same way we do about a lot of things, but we should vote for the leaders that we think would be best, not perfect, just best. If we don't, that is essentially voting for the leaders we think would be worse.
America is an amazing country. God has blessed America. I am so thankful to be raised here. We have the freedom to worship God, listen to sermons on the radio, watch preachers on television, and even our Senators open up with prayer.
Let's do our part ~ pray and vote. Vote for the people who share most of your values. We want Supreme Court justices who value life and the sanctity of marriage. Don't become apathetic. Never give up! God is still on His throne and His people are filled with His Spirit. There is hope. There will always be hope.
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men; For kings and for all that are in authority that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
I Timothy 2:1,2
