Have you ever wondered what it would be like if joy could bottled?
I mean, really,
carbonated like champagne?
To the point of overflowing, popping the lid off with such power that it hits the ceiling.
I’d sell it on the blog…with huge success, of course, and my husband could quit his job. He and I would then spend our days influencing the world for good.
Or what if joy could be sprinkled like pixie dust?
Magically lifting the spirits of every soul over which it fell. Spreading happiness and contentment like fresh butter over toast, smooth and easy.
Maybe at the very least, we could manufacture it in pill form. Candy-coating the pills to remove any bitterness. Or adding a spoonful of sugar in Mary-Poppins-like fashion.
Joy can be as simple as making your first shot in an entire season of basketball or as complex as being declared cancer-free.
True joy is a choice; we all recognize this fact. It cannot be forced. It will not be conformed.
Untamed and unashamed, joy flows through the human spirit like no other emotion. It evokes reactions. Shows off those pearly whites. Reveals a beautiful countenance.
Joy swells above monotony and refuses to accept mediocrity.
Many seek it; few find it. Yet the first step towards joy is simple. Basic. Childlike.
True joy begins with a willing heart.
You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness,To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.- Psalm 30:12
