Info Post

Beth Moore has a story at the end of her series on James about her parents.  It is a very bittersweet story.  Her mom and dad showed no love towards each other while she was growing up.  Beth always ached to see some type of love and affection shown between her them.  Her mother died of cancer and her father remarried.  For seven years, he was extremely happily married, even calling his new wife his "soul mate."

Two years after he died, his wife gave Beth a letter that he had carried in his wallet.  It was written in 1951 by her mother to her father and it said something like, "I love you so much.  I couldn't be prouder of you if you were the president of the United States.  You are my guy!"

Beth couldn't believe it.  She told us that her mother and father must really have loved each other even though they never showed any affection whatsoever.  Not ever seeing love between her parents bred a lot of insecurity in her.

Another friend of mine told me she got divorced when her children were younger.  Her children are all grown up now and she is all alone.  She sounded miserable.  She wishes there were people around her when her marriage was going through a hard time to help them through and  who would have encouraged them to stay together.

Marriage.  Such an important institution.  Worth fighting for.  Worth it for your children while they are growing up and for yourself when your children are gone so you are not alone.  Worth forgetting what you want and thinking what he wants and trying to make him happy.

Let your children see you love their daddy.  Be affectionate with him.  Gross them out!  That is the best gift you can give them.  I love seeing happy marriages.  They are lights in this very dark world.  Be a light.  Be salt.  Love that husband the Lord has blessed you with.  This is the best gift you can give your children.

He who finds a wife finds a good thing
and obtains favor from the Lord.
