Ken asked me after I wrote my post entitled Celebrating Homosexuality if I should be discussing such volatile political issues on my blog. He wondered if that was in keeping with the purpose for my blog. I told him I write about anything that affects the family. We need to be armed with truth and a good defense of our faith. All sin affects our families and needs to be written about. He agreed.
An argument for accepting homosexuality is that they are born that way and can't help it. This is completely false. This site gives articles of many gays that get out of the gay lifestyle and go on to lead normal, healthy lives with wives and children.
Gays are not born gay. They may grow up with a tendency to be attracted to the same sex just as most heterosexual men grow up with the tendency to want to sleep with a lot of women. Or women grow up with the tendency to gossip and overeat. We all have battles with different sins in our life. The key is that we battle them and have victory over them with God's help.
We need to be giving the homosexuals in our life hope that they don't need to give into their sinful desires and can even overcome them. Many gays don't want to be gay. If they are continually told they were born that way and to accept it, they will have no hope of ever changing.
Just as we can teach our young sons and daughters that they can be pure until marriage, we can teach all men that there is victory over sin through the shed blood of Jesus. He paid the penalty for all of our sin: past, present, and future. When you believe in Him, He indwells you with His Holy Spirit and you become a new creature in Christ. He makes all things new. Now that is Good News!
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold , all things are become new.
II Corinthians 5:17
