Images like this remind me of the many years my dad spent leading my five sisters and I in the ways of the Lord.
I can't count the number of times we gathered around the old kitchen table to listen to his stories. Eating warm-buttered popcorn and sipping cherry Kool-Aid from plastic cups, we hung on every word that Dad spoke. Some days we cried (oh how we loved the sad stories!) and other days we laughed until we could barely take our next breath. Every day was a new lesson learned--something we could tuck into our pockets and carry through life.Life was different back then, but nonetheless we were every bit as busy as families today. Dad worked full time, came home for dinner and took care of repairs around the house. Meanwhile, mom was an immaculate housekeeper--not to mention the fact that they has six kids that pulled them in six different directions at times. Yet somehow love found it's way to the kitchen table time and again where we stopped long enough to notice the world around us, before it passed by.
Little did I know at the time, Mom and Dad were co-teachers, and I their student in the first school I'd ever attend, and that every day was a new entry in this journal of life.
Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful man? The righteous man walks in his integrity; His children are blessed after him. ~ Proverbs 20:6-7
